Justin Balogh
Representative Director, President & CEO
Justin Balogh launched TORANOTEC in Japan in 2016, to pursue his desire to expand wealth creation in Japan and Asian markets. His 18-year career at State Street spans across securities, asset management and banking. Most recently, Justin was the Tokyo Branch Representative of State Street Bank & Trust Company as well as President & Representative Director of State Street Global Markets, Japan, while having leading regional business growth as Senior Managing Director of State Street Global Markets – Asia Pacific.
Justin holds a Master of Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales. -
Ryosuke Fujii
Director, Senior Managing Director
Ryosuke Fujii has been involved in TORANOTEC since its launch in 2016. Prior to joining TORANOTEC, Ryosuke led corporate planning, new business initiatives, and M&A at Cookpad Co., Ltd. Before Cookpad, he worked as a fund manager of Japanese equities hedge funds, at Ocean Asset Management where he was a Managing Director, and Tower Asset Management. With his unique mix of background from consulting, fund management to online cooking recipe services, he brings a wealth of experience and connections to drive change into the world of Japanese asset management.
Ryosuke has a BA in Economics from Kobe University. -
Takuya Koyama
Director
Takuya Koyama joined TORANOTEC in 2016. Prior to joining TORANOTEC, Takuya was the Senior Executive Director at Nikko Asset Management where he was responsible for Global Sales and Institutional Sales in Japan. Takuya started his career at Nomura Securities where he worked for 21 years, in roles including research, institutional sales and CEO of its German subsidiary. After Nomura, he held several senior managerial positions in Japan subsidiaries of global asset management companies.
Takuya has an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BA in Economics from Keio University. -
Gota Nakazawa
Director
Gota Nakazawa has been involved in TORANOTEC since its launch in 2016. Prior to joining TORANOTEC, Gota managed strategic consultancy projects as well as strategic start-up investments at Dream Incubator as a Project Manager. Having started his career as a bureaucrat with the Ministry of Finance in charge of planning and drafting bills regarding international financial administration and the tax systems, Gota also served as the Executive Secretary to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2015. His extensive knowledge of financial and industrial policies and expertise in strategy planning and new business creation enables us to think outside the box in delivering unique services to our customers.
Gota has an MBA in Finance from the Warton School of Business and a BA in Public Law from the University of Tokyo. -
Teruaki Fujimoto
Chief Operating Officer
Teruaki Fujimoto joined TORANOTEC in 2020, bringing 30 years of experience in financial and capital markets at the MUFG Group, both in Japan and the United States. After joining Mitsubishi Bank (current Mitsubishi UFJ Bank), he worked as a chief dealer in the International Foreign Exchange & Treasury Department and at the bank’s New York Branch. At Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, he was a management member in charge of Capital Markets within the Investment Banking Division. Teruaki is also well versed in regulatory compliance and is a certified Financial Planner.
Teruaki has a BA in Economics from Kobe University. -
Thomas Chevrier PhD.
Head of Investment
Thomas Chevrier has been involved in TORANOTEC since its launch in 2016 and focuses on quantitative analysis and portfolio construction. Prior to joining TORANOTEC, Thomas was an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance at the Univesity of Chicago Booth School of Business and, prior to that, the Head of State Street Associates for Asia Pacific, providing asset allocation, portfolio construction, and quantitative analysis services to pension funds, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, etc.
Thomas has a PhD in Finance, Economics and Econometrics and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, MA in Economics from the University of Chicago. -
Ashley Gottlieb
International Strategy Manager
Ashley has been involved in TORANOTEC since June 2017 and focuses on developing the company’s international business. Prior to TORANOTEC, Ashley was a management consultant at A.T. Kearney having worked across multiple sectors including financial services, telecommunications, consumer retail, and private equity in Asia-Pacific and North America.
Ashley holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of New South Wales, Australia and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
